NPS Launches “Every Kid Outdoors” Program

Kids are always on their dang phones! At least that’s what it looks like for us adults. They use chrome books and iPads at school, they come home and have their faces glued to TV screens and phones. Sometimes it feels like a battle to get kids to drop their electronics and get outside. Exploring the great outdoors and connecting with nature is a fundamental part of a child’s development. To encourage our youth to embrace the beauty and wonder of the natural world, the National Park Service (NPS) has launched the Every Kid Outdoors program that provides a free national park pass to all 4th-grade students, inviting them to embark on a journey of discovery and environmental stewardship.

Starting on September 1st, the Every Kid Outdoors program presents a fantastic opportunity for 4th graders and their families to experience the awe-inspiring landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and rich history preserved within the national park system. The pass grants free access to all national parks, lands, and water. Simply visit the Every Kid Outdoors website, complete a quick 3 question activity and print out your national park pass.  

Fostering a Love for Nature and Learning

The program’s focus on 4th graders is especially beneficial, as this stage in a child’s education marks an important developmental milestone.
